Our practice is committed to protecting your eye health with the most advanced technology available, and we are excited to announce that our annual eye exams now include a thorough eye disease screening scan, called the iWellness Exam.
The iWellness Exam uses state-of-the-art spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) to produce high definition images of the layers of the retina (sensitive area of the back of the eye). Often compared to an MRI or CT scan, SD-OCT images provide stunning details of retinal structures that are not visible with other examination techniques or retinal photography, such as the Optomap®.
This scan enables the Dr Kara to detect very early signs of vision threatening disease, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and others. When diagnosed early, these conditions are easier to treat, which can help slow any progression and often avoid vision loss.
The iWellness Exam is a painless scan that is completed in a matter of minutes. After each scan, Dr. Ramsey will go over the results and clarify any questions you may have. Having this scan completed at each annual eye exam gives Dr. Kara the ability to detect even slight changes in the health of your retinas.
We believe that this eye disease screening is so important to the ocular health of our patients that we include this scan with every annual eye exam at no additional cost.
